We’re not in Kansas anymore…

With all that is happening in the world today you may be getting an unsettling feeling in your gut. There is a lot of change going on. Some of it good. Some of it bad.

With the election of Barack Obama as the first African American president, a democratically controlled house and senate, a crashing and burning economy, a worldwide credit crisis, and technology advancing at the speed of light, it is clear that the landscape of the world is changing rapidly.

As Dorothy said in the Wizard of Oz:

“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”

I ran across this video on the web the other day while reading the Monday Morning Memo from Roy Williams. Check it out.

Regardless of your politics, economic ideas, or level of optimism one thing is clear: the landscape has changed and the world of tomorrow will not be the world of yesterday. I’m not an alarmist, I believe there are as many good opportunities out there as there are threats. Here is the question: are you prepared for what is coming or are you trying to deal with the problems of today with yesterday’s tools? Tomorrow’s strategies, marketing, financial policies, world culture, buying patterns, services, and opportunities will look a lot different than today. We are being shaken up. Entire industries and companies that were thought of as untouchable are tanking. Some are thriving.

Are you preparing for tomorrow or are you stuck in today? In the current environment you cannot afford to be dealing with today’s problems without looking into what will be needed tomorrow.

Keep moving forward,

Greg
