A friend of mine says “when you see a gap in the market, you need to find out why it is there and what you need to do to fill it”. These are times that are filled with gaps. Despite the current economic condition with unpredictable markets there are still plenty of gaps.
One of our clients is a small construction company that specializes in residential additions and remodeling in the Towson area. Their sales are up 50% over last year for the last 2 quarters and their sales pipeline is twice what it was last year. How can that be in a market that seems like it is going the way of the cd? The reason this small company is flourishing is because there is a gap in the market between people who want a new home and what they can sell their home for right now. That gap creates a sizable market of people who decide to create a new home in their existing home and thereby create a great market for this small residential construction company.
So the question is: Where is the gap that your business or organization can fill even in this market? Here’s a hint for gap finding: you’re going to have to get out of your comfort zone.
